Cevre College 16th Science and Technology Week Events and Science Fair

Cevre College’s “16th Science Fair and Science and Technology Week” took place between 8-14th of March 2017. The activities, with the participation of 700 students from 4th to 8th grade,  continued for one week.

In “Science and Technology Week”, it is our greatest goal to teach our students the processes of scientific thinking, to make them do qualitative and quantitative observations by experimenting and observing, and to increase their ability to express themselves. We want to educate individuals who are questionable and able to search for solutions using scientific processes.

Project presentations, experiment workshops, information competitions and interviews were prepared for the purpose of achieving our goals with “Science and Technology Week” events. The events during the week of March 8-14th were carried out according to class levels as follows:

Day 1     08.03.2017                 Science Fair Project Exhibition                                    5th-6th grades

Day 2     09.03.2017                CRODA Chemistry Experiment Work                            4th grades

Day 3     13.03.2017                  7th grades Science Competition                                  6th-7th grades

Day 4     14.03.2017         Interview and Award Ceremony with Orhan BURSALI            7th-8th grades

Day 1: Enriched by a sense of curiosity, the exhibition of 48 projects was presented in the conference hall foyer, and consisted of scientific studies prepared by our 5th- 6th grades students. The creativity and perspective of our students' work, the talents of sharing their experiences with the guests who visited us, and with the Cevre faculty and student body were fascinating. The list of the students who earned a degree with their projects is as follows:

On the 2nd day, our 4th grade students met the CRODA Chemical Company trainers . In our chemistry lab, they shared their experience by implementing the steps of the scientific process, experimenting, taking measurements, and discussing  the results.

On the 3rd day, in the conference hall, a science competition was held among   our 7th grade students. A total of six teams of three students from each class competed   against each other proving their high level of  knowledge  and skills. All classes have also competed in teamwork, design and creativity as well as responding to questions asked.

On day 4, 7th and 8th grade students and 5th and 6th grade students who participated in the project exhibition, met our guest Orhan Bursalı , a researcher and a writer. Orhan Bursalı has shared information about   his scientific studies and professional experience with the students. Orhan Bursalı, who talked about the book "Aziz Sancar and Nobel's Story" published by Red Cat Publications, met the students  after the interview and signed the books they bought. After the signing ceremony, the Science and Technology Week events ended with the Award Ceremony.

We would like to congratulate our students on their great performance   in all activities and thank our Science Department  teachers for supporting the students   and being so  passionate about  organizing  this wonderful event.
