Our 6th grade students made the model houses of Çatalhöyük, Konya. They displayed them in social class under the title ‘settlement from the past to today’. Our aim was to let the students integrate the topics we learn in the lessons into visual display.
Çatalhöyük is a settlement which was established about 9000 years ago. In this area, the houses were established as close together as possible in order to protect the inhabitants from wild animals. The entrances could be reached using high ladders. This shows us that people of that era lived in harmony with the animals and the environment.
