Turkish education in our school is studied as a complete program starting from the prep classes of kindergarten till the last year of high school considering the needs of our education system.
Our goal in Turkish Language and Literature is to educate individuals, who have the skill to express feelings and ideas correctly, are perfect in written and spoken language, have acquired the reading as a habit, and can head for sources to gain information. With the idea of aware readers in mind, we analyze novels, which we have chosen from different categories and introduce our students to different authors and poets by studying story and poem anthologies.
Our lessons are supported by many different kinds of activities such as group work, drama, presentations, researches, writing reports and narratives and debates. Students are measured by performance and project tasks besides written evaluations. In the lessons for all levels, we apply relevant programmes for our students to be successful in the common exam which is held by the Ministry Of Education in the 8th grade. We organize class and school debates, book festivals, conversations and interviews with authors, poetry recitations, competitions that provide our students a chance to express themselves in public. Literature and drama is given by visits to theaters and bookshops and meeting well-known Turkish authors, poets, journalists and actors.
High school Turkish / Linguistics /Turkish Literature /Turkish Language and LiteratureIn Turkish, Turkish Linguistics, Turkish Literature and Turkish Language and Literature lessons our school aims to educate citizens who have tolerance, national and moral values, and individuals who can produce ideas and criticize the problems of the country and the world in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution and the Basic Law of National Education. We aim to let our students comprehend the subjects of the curriculum with the books we have chosen in parallel with the topics by studying the distinguished works of our literature without disturbing the characteristics of the Turkish language and avoiding extremism. We also aim to enable our students to present verbally what they have gained from listening (interviews with writers and poets, panelists); watching (theaters, movies) and to acquire the pleasure and habit of reading. With the examples of literary genres we chose, the students’ ability of criticizing, analyzing and synthesizing is developed by asking the question "why, why, how?" In the lessons, activities are held for students to gain a habit of looking at events and human relations from a wide angle; to reach universality while keeping their cultural values, and to develop aesthetic taste. In order to support the courses, TYT/AYT preparation studies, supplementary studies and individual studies for senior high school students, and individual supportive studies are made in line with the needs and demands of the students in other levels. In order to develop students through various skills, theater visits, presentations, fine speech studies, creative writing exercises, quiz shows, writer interviews and various project activities within the scope of 21st century skills are organized as extra-curricular activities.
