ÇEVRE HIGH SCHOOL IN THE FIRST SETTLEMENT ÇATALHÖYÜK

Our excursion to Çatalhöyük, organized during the mid-term break, was successfully carried out with the aim of making the information acquired by our 9th and 10th-grade students in history and literature classes more permanent, increasing their interest in the lessons, and ensuring that history and literature are learned by seeing and experiencing.

At the first stop of our trip, Çatalhöyük, which is also listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, our students had the opportunity to see unique findings such as the first house architecture from about 9000 years ago, the first landscape painting, and artifacts and belief works related to the mother goddess cult.

In Konya Center, our students visited Karatay Medrese, Sırçalı Medrese, Konya Archaeological Museum, and Mevlâna Museum. At the end of the day, they had a different experience with the sema ceremony at the Mevlâna Cultural Center. Furthermore, after exploring the historical streets of Sille, a city with a history dating back 5000 years and reflecting the cultural richness of our country, and visiting the Church of Saint Helen, our students enjoyed pleasant moments at Turkey's first butterfly garden and Europe's largest butterfly flight area, the Konya Tropical Butterfly Garden.

On the second day of our trip, our first stop on the journey to Cappadocia was Sultanhanı, the largest Seljuk caravanserai in Anatolia. Our students then had the opportunity to examine the fairy chimneys in Dervent Valley in Cappadocia, visit the Göreme Open-Air Museum, which is listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List as a natural and cultural asset, and explore the Özkonak Underground City. Besides learning about the historical Hittites, they also experienced pottery making at a workshop in Avanos.

At the final stop of our trip, our students visited the Seljuk Civilization Museum-Gevher Hatun Hospital in Kayseri, which is said to be the oldest hospital from the Seljuk period and the world's first medical faculty. They also had the opportunity to see historically important structures such as the Rotating Dome, Kayseri Clock Tower, and Kayseri Castle.

At the end of this intense and enjoyable trip, Çevre High School students became aware of the historical artifacts belonging to different periods and cultures in the country they live in and became conscious of protecting the cultural heritage.
